The RO0MIES!

I get a lot of questions concerning my crazy roommates, what they're like, where they're from, if we have stuff in common, things like that. I wanted to update with a brief overview about them, since they are probably one of the most important parts of my college life!

CARLY L

From?- Illinois! (crazy right?!)
Things that make her like me- Well since we're both from the Chiiiii, we both often
wish for things that they don't have here such as Chipotle, PotBelly, Steak N Shake, A Blackhawks Win, etc.
We are similar personalities and she's always my go-to girl when I don't understand a "Utah thing".
Random Fact- She's like my mom, she seriously helps me with anything. I've always had friends who were slightly, for lack of better words, more mature than me and she deff is that friend here. oh and we both shorten all our words like, totes (totally) deff (definitely) nerve (nervous) etc (:

HALEY

From?- Provo, Utah
Things that make her like me- She has GREAT fashion sense, and dresses cute every.single.day. I've never seen the girl in
sweats unless she was about to go to bed or just waking up from it. When I do feel like dressing cute (which is probably once every 2 weeks)
I'll ask Haley to borrow something because our style is really similar!
Random Fact- she introduced me to "root beer milk!"

CARLY B

From? West Valley City, Utah.
Things that make her like me- She LOVES taylor swift and she knows just about every one of her songs on guitar!
For a Taylor fan like me, you can imagine i'm in heaven.
Random Fact- She Sings too!..Check it out below!

BRITNI

From? Magna, Utah
Things that make her like me- She's super sweet and literally the best roommate I could ask for, She taught me how to do laundry,
she's a great cook, she helps me remember things for class and calms me down when I get nervous for something..okay so maybe she's
nothing like me..but she compliments me great.
Random Fact- Britni's BEST FRIEND is engaged to her BROTHER...her bff is truly going to become her "sister", every girls dream.

A little bit of snow

Nothing too exciting has been happening to me since I last updated, I've been mainly focusing on school work and EATING, don't worry, not too much I don't plan on gaining the freshman 15. I have a "meal plan" for school which means that I can use my student ID to get food during the week. I have the least amount of meals possible, 10 per 7 days. My mom was worried that wasn't enough, "you can't even eat twice a day, most days" is what I heard from most. Our meals restart which a new 10 every saturday and I'll have you know that last week on friday, I had 9 left to use before the next day! I hadn't used any because I was too scared to go get food from the cafeteria alone, or as we call it here "the marketplace", This week I decided to get over my fear, get food alone, and do homework while I ate. This ended up working out perfectly for me since I'm done with classes by 12:30 everyday allowing me to grab lunch right after and review notes, This friday when I checked my meals, I only had four left before saturday (:

Another big thing happened to me this week.. I did my own laundry for the first time! Back at home I had never done it and wasn't quite sure how, my awesome roommate Britni took it upon herself to teach me and we had a fun-filled night of, laundry, taking garbage cans out, cleaning and vacuuming our room...all we needed to do was make dinner and we'd be some regular housewives!

We also got our first snowfall since I've been at school, I was telling everyone from illinois about the "blizzard" and every time i'd say that my roommates would laugh and say that is wasn't even close to one.
This is what my windshield looked like after going into a store for less than 10 minutes!

A lot different than being in utah in the summer, it was 100 this day!

Although the snow did keep me from driving anywhere it did offer me some fun, There is an all boys suite next to mine and the two boys who's bedroom is just a wall away from mine often play loud music and knock on the wall to see if we are home and probably more so just to bother..because like I said, they're boys. Last night my suite-mate Carly and I went outside to play in the snow with our "knocking neighbors" Matt and Jordan, we had a great time and snow was perfect for packing!

Utah State!

So many people have been asking for pictures of my bedroom! My roommate didn't want her side to be shown since it's a little "under construction" right now, so here's just a few from my side. I also have a bathroom, "Vanity room" (which is only mirrors and counters, must be a utah thing?) and a family room, along with THREE other roommates, they are all FANTASTIC people and I'm so glad they're all mine!

Joey's wall above my head!

All my best friends Collage!

A New Adventure Called for A new way of communication!

Going away to college is such a huge step in anyones life, sometimes you feel lonely, and sometimes you're on cloud 9, the amount of freedom you have excites you but it slowly wears off when there's no one there to so willingly lend you hand. Family is truly amazing and you should never take them for granted. They would do ANYTHING for you and its hard to find someone else who you could say that about. I think thats been my only, for lack of better words "struggle" or dilemma i've faced since i've been here..However, I've only been here a week! :P

I arrived in Utah last friday, the night before My cousin Matt, his wife Maria, their kids, and my Auntie Linda stopped by my house to wish me farewells! My sister Amy was also in town with her son camden. Ava, Matt and Maria's older daughter is less than a year older than camden so it was very cute to see them play while the grown-ups talked!

 Camden, Ava, Sophia

The next morning, my mom and I left the house around 8 because our flight to salt lake was at 11. (she likes to be REALLY early) Larry dropped us off and as he hugged me goodbye, believe it or not..he started crying. Who knew tears could come out of that big guy? Mom and I had a connecting flight in Arizona (Hi sarah and kevin!) We had about an hour to spare so we decided to get some lunch, as we were chowing down we heard over the airport loud speakers something about a flight to Salt Lake City, we quickly ended our conversation so we could hear the news...was our flight delayed ? canceled? ..Nope, boarding. The next thing they said over the intercom was "Tianna Rodriguez and Christy Slack your flight is ready for take off!" We left our food right there on the table in a panic and ran to our gate. When we got on the flight we had missed the whole safety procedure and were getting some weird stares..don't ask me how we thought we had time to casually eat before our flight..the whole thing is a mystery. I told my mom when we were all settled in our sets that someone must really not want me to go to utah! she said that thats not true, God is MAKING SURE I get there by calling my name over the intercom, he must really want me there(:

This is what it looked like in Utah when we arrived! Even though i'm more a beach girl, I'll admit the mountains are BEAUTIFUL!

Joey knows I'm a sucker for cheesy gifts and lovey stuff so he surprised me with some goodies when I got to Utah. <3 him.

On my last day of staying at his house before I went to school for good, he hugged me so hard he pulled my hair out! He thought it was pretty funny. Me..not so much.

I have a meal plan at school but I have yet to use it! I'm kind of nervous to try it actually, I get mixed results from a lot of people! Joey's been spoiling me and took me out to dinner my first few nights I was at school. (He drove an hour just to do that for me!)

One of the nights we went to Chilli's, its become a tradition of ours to always go when we're together! When we first got there we had to use the restroom immediately so once we were shown to our table we both got up and went. When we came back we sat down waiting for our waiter/ waitress but no one ever came..a half hour later we decided to let the hostess know (we were trying our best to be patient!) she felt horrible and let us know the waiters were confused because of our absence while we were in the washroom and all of them thought someone else was taking care of us. As you can see above, we were in really good spirits about it and laughed it off. The manager also gave us a free desert for being so understanding. It was very kind of her(:

Sadly the fun stopped when joey had to leave early tuesday morning for a training camp in Nevada preparing him for his deployment. Before he left he gave me this ring so that I would be reminded while he was gone of how much I am loved. I am truly so blessed..
